The fundamental purpose of our school is to meet the needs of all our pupils to enable them to achieve as highly as possible in all areas of their development, in a safe, supportive environment. We want to give them high self-esteem, confidence and a desire to make a meaningful contribution to the world; to have respect for all things, including themselves, and to have a strong sense of social responsibility.
We aim to be a fully inclusive school. We maintain an integrated approach to inclusion and pupil development through the linking of the work of all staff – teachers, teaching assistants, EMAS team, SEN and learning mentors.
We welcome children who are newly arrived in the UK, those who are learning English and those who have special educational needs.
Teachers have a responsibility to ensure that all children are given work that they can access and which addresses their needs. All children should be supported as appropriate to enable them to become independent learners.
The deputy and assistant headteachers work closely together to lead on Inclusion. The Deputy Headteacher’s inclusion focus is on Ethnic Minority Achievement (EMAS) and the Assistant Headteacher’s inclusion expertise is with Special Educational Needs (SENCO).
